Need an Allergy test

If you have an allergy, your body is reacting to something you inhaled, touched or ate. The substances that trigger an allergic reaction are called allergens. Reactions to these allergens range from annoying to life-threatening.

Many people with untreated allergy symptoms aren’t aware of how much better they can feel once their symptoms are properly diagnosed and managed by an allergist/immunologist, often referred to as an allergist.

Why do Allergy Test?

1. Most people with nagging allergy symptoms don’t realize how much better they can feel once their symptoms are properly diagnosed and treated.
2. Allergy testing analyzed by an allergist can pinpoint what you are allergic to.
3. Testing done by an allergist is generally safe and practically painless.
4. The right care can make the difference between suffering with an allergic disease and feeling better.

How does it work?

1. Fill in the Test Request form by clicking on the ‘Test Request’ button next to a test.
2. A staff from Eastern Biotech will contact you and provide all necessary information.
3. An appointment with the nearest medical test centre will be arranged for you to deliver your blood sample.
4. Payment for each test can be made at the test centre
5. Your sample will be processed at our affiliate laboratory and the report will be delivered to you by email and also by post.

Allergy Test Option:

a. Food Allergy Test – 20 Panels

b. Inhalation Allergy Test – 20 Panels

a. Food Allergy Test – 20 Panels

A food allergy is an adverse immune response to a food protein. Food allergy is distinct from other adverse responses to food, such as food intolerance, pharmacologic reactions, and toxin-mediated reactions.

We offer food allergy test for 20 panels that include, Almond, Apple, Carrot, Casein, Cellery, Codfish, Eggwhite, Eggyolk, Hazelnut, Milk, Peach, Peanut, Potato, Rye Flour, Sesame, Shrimp, Soya, Tomato, Walnut, Wheat Flour.

Causes of food intolerance and food allergy

People react differently to different foods. Food hypersensitivity can involve reactions from the body’s own immune system such as:

  • Classical immediate reaction known as food allergy which is mediated by IgE antibodies.
  • Coeliac disease which is a reaction to the gluten protein and is detected by measuring anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTGA) and anti-endomysium antibodies (EMA).
  • Delayed onset food allergy or food intolerance which is detected by measuring IgG antibodies.

All three require different tests to identify them and different management. Food sensitivity can also arise from mechanisms that don’t even involve the body’s immune system. These include:

  • Enzyme deficiencies such as lactose intolerance.
  • Chemical sensitivities such as reactions to food additives e.g tartrazine (E102) and sunset yellow (E110).

Diagnosis

The blood test or RAST (radioallergosorbent) test measures the levels of the allergy antibody IgE to a specific allergen that is produced when the blood is mixed with a series of allergens in a laboratory. If a patient is allergic to a substance, the IgE levels against that substance are usually high. The blood test may be used if the patient have existing skin problems like eczema, if on medications that are long-acting or cannot stop taking, if he has a history of anaphylaxis, or if the cliennt prefers not to have a skin test.

Treatment

The mainstay of treatment for food allergy is avoidance of the foods that have been identified as allergens.

If the food is accidentally ingested and a systemic reaction (anaphylaxis) occurs, then epinephrine should be used. It is possible that a second dose of epinephrine may be required for severe reactions. The patient should also seek medical care immediately.

At this time, there is no cure for food allergies. There are no allergy desensitization or allergy "shots" available for food allergies. Some doctors feel they do not work in food allergies because even minute amounts of the food in question or even food extracts (as in the case of allergy shots) can cause an allergic response in many sufferers.

Ronald van Ree of Amsterdam University expects that vaccines can in theory be created using genetic engineering to cure allergies. If this can be done, food allergies could be eradicated in about ten years.
